We live in a world of ambiguity.
Having grown up in Wales, studied in London, lived in France and worked in numerous countries, it is those rich ambiguities and colourful characteristics of the world that have left an indelible impression on me.
I am drawn to the physical, the sensual and the tactile.
The pieces that I create often resemble disjointed stories. They are made from recycled materials, found objects, paint, plaster and words.
That they are well made is important. A high level of craft is necessary to their being but I am not interested in craft per se. The craft versus art debate is redundant and unimportant to the work. They are one and the same.
Ideas for the pieces may take a long time to come to fruition. They are wall hung or sculptures or furniture pieces. Their individual forms evolve as the ideas progress.
They are personages. They are ambiguous.
