I make hand built, ceramic stoneware sculpture. I enjoy the tactile nature of working in crank clay, which is fired to stoneware meaning it can also be exhibited outdoors. The slow pace of hand building is conducive to reflection, allowing time for the resolution of complex ideas. I am stirred by natural form and structure, and incorporate these into my work often focusing on textures created by the play of light on surfaces. At the same time I am exploring the dramatic impact of holes, piercings, and unfathomed depths.
Themes in my current work illustrate this notion: Abyss, Geode, Deco and Standing forms- Sarsons, and linked pieces which enable me to better express qualities in human relationships.
Anne trained at the University of London Goldsmiths College in the late 50s early 60s specialising in pottery in an innovative department, breaking through the traditionalist constraints previously limiting the scope of work in clay.
A number of my pieces are in private collections.
